This specially convened meeting will discuss a wide range of issues affecting the crustacean sector, including crab exports to the Far East, stock assessments and management. The SAGB is an all-encompassing representative body for the shellfish industry with membership covering fishermen, shellfish farmers, wholesalers, retailers and equipment suppliers.

The meeting, however, is open to anyone with an interest in shellfish and is part of SAGB’s ‘widening the net’ strategy to engage with non-members around the coast. The session will be held on Friday 30 October from 3pm to 6pm at the Bournemouth International Centre where the Skipper Expo Int. Bournemouth is being staged.

David Jarrad, director of SAGB, said: “Skipper Expo Int. Bournemouth 2015 provides the perfect opportunity to host a crustacean meeting because there will be numerous people with an interest in the sector at the show.

“The crustacean sector faces numerous challenges and this meeting will enable stakeholders to examine the issues and discuss strategies for future development.”

The SAGB is also pleased to have a stand at Skipper Expo Int. Bournemouth where visitors will be able to discuss at first hand the wide range of work carried out by the association and the benefits of membership.

Sharon Boyle of show organiser Mara Media said: “This meeting will prove a major attraction for visitors to the expo and provide an important forum for those interested in shellfish to engage in the major issues of the day.”

Skipper Expo Int. Bournemouth 2015 will be held on 30 and 31 October 2015 at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC), opening times 10am to 5pm on Friday 30 October, 10am to 4pm Saturday 31 October. Bournemouth has a fantastic selection of hotels and guest houses to suit all budgets, making it the perfect place to visit for those thinking of staying over for both days of the expo. Entry to the show is free.
