Schering-Plough acknowledged for work developing vaccinations

UK - Schering-Plough have been shortlisted for an Aquaculture Today Fit for the Future award for innovation in aquaculture.

Their nomination recognises Schering-Plough's continual work towards developing and enhancing vaccinations and treatments, in order to improve the quality of a fish's life and reduce the occurrence of disease outbreaks.

Schering-Plough has provided the aquaculture industry with much needed solutions to arising infections and diseases.

Prof Patrick Smith, Director of New Business Development/Feasibility at Schering-Plough, told Aquaculture Today:

"We are delighted to be nominated for an Aquaculture Today Fit For the Future award. Our thanks go to our entire team for their unstinting effort and our customers for their support over the past 25 years. Our first fish vaccine was developed in 1982 and was the first to be licensed and enter commercial use in the UK.

"Schering-Plough was also the first company to gain European - wide registration through the mutual recognition process for a fish vaccine and also the only company so far to have a fully registered Oral fish vaccine through this process. Since the early pioneering days, we have achieved a number of "firsts" in the field of fish health management. We are proud that our products continue to have a profound effect on the aquaculture industry."
