The official opening of the world’s largest exhibition of aquaculture technology, will be done by Minister of Fisheries, Per Sandberg at 10.30am on August 15th. In addition, the Mayor of Trondheim, Rita Ottervik, and the Chairman of the Board of the Nor-Fishing Foundation, Liv Holmefjord, will also address the audience.
King Olav opened the very first fisheries exhibition in 1960, and 19 out of the 45 exhibitions that have taken place since have been opened in the presence of a member of the Norwegian royal family - only fitting givent that salmon, the main focus of the show, are often referred to as 'the king of fish'.
This is the fourth time that Crown Prince Haakon will attend the opening of the exhibition in Trondheim, which is due to receive over 20,000 visitors from more than 70 countries.
