The two day event, organised by Seafish in partnership with the Humber Seafood Group, is expecting over 160 attendees this year, which is up by 50 per cent on last year.
Attendees are being drawn to this year’s event thanks to the panel of respected industry speakers and delegates from across Europe who will be debating key issues around the central theme of Reputation and Integrity.
Dr Paul Williams, Chief Executive of Seafish said: “This year’s Humber Seafood Summit looks set to be the most successful to date, breaking last year’s incredible record. The event is a major networking opportunity in the Humber area and, unsurprisingly, no-one wants to miss out. I am confident that this year’s theme of Reputation and Integrity will be of particular interest to attendees and the wider industry given that it is such a key issue for the industry.”
The two day summit, which is organised by Seafish and sponsored by organisations from across the UK, will launch on Wednesday evening with a series of project presentations followed by a screening of Seafish’s film, ‘The Business of Fishing’. The evening event features a keynote address from Toby Middleton of the Marine Stewardship Council, followed by a networking evening catered by local suppliers of seafood and other regional specialities.
Thursday’s sessions will include speakers presenting a range of subjects including seafood sustainability in a global context, industry integrity, reputation, genetic identification, labelling accuracy, transparency and implications for seafood, future opportunities and challenges. The range of subjects has been carefully selected to reflect industry issues bringing productive and meaningful discussion to the summit.
