System specification
Livestock tanks
21 circular polypropylene fish rearing tanks (1.5m diameter, 1m working depth). Central drainage/ overflow capacity, external vortex filtration for removal of large waste particles.
RAS
- Protein skimmer: IAT manufacture, 1.96m D, 2.8m H, Volume ~8.5m3. 32mm venturi.
- PABR: twin-packed aerator and biological reactors x 2, 1.95m D, 2.8m H, total packing volume 5m3.
- Reflux sand filter: Lacron LCX 1850 pressure sand filter. 1.8m D, 2.1m H. Filtration area ~ 5.4m2.
- Air blower (for PABR): Rietschle Thomas side channel blower. RER350/50 1.1kW.
- Oxygen injection flooded vessel: Astral poly-wound GRP body 1.05m D, 2.3m H.
- Backwash storage tank: IAT manufacture, 1.96m D, 2.8m H. Volume ~ 8.5 m3.
- A number of support pumps.
Design parameters
Dissolved oxygen to be maintained at 90-100% saturation. pH adjustable over range of 7.8-8.1 for seawater and 6.5-7.5 for freshwater. Ammonia <0.5mg/l, nitrite < 0.5mg/l. Biomass loading 20kg/m3, anticipated feeding rate 3%, water exchange 50-200% per hour 800-3500l/hr.
