Consumption has grown from 11.6 kilos in 2011 to 15.4 kilos in 2014.

Currently, the country consumes half as much fish than it does poultry. The government hopes to close this gap within the next few years, reports Andina.

"We are promoting fish consumption because it is the wealth we have, especially with anchovy," he said.
