OIE: Koi Herpesvirus Outbreak in Italy

ITALY - A new outbreak of Koi herpesvirus has been reported in Italy by Dr Romano Marabelli, Chief Veterinary Officer, Italy.

The outbreak occurred at Campagna Lupa, Venezia, Veneto.

Affecting a fresh water farm, there were 3288 cases from the 3288 susceptible and the outbreak resulted in 88 deaths and 3200 destroyed.

The source of the outbreak is thought to be due to the introduction of new live animals.

The outbreak currently affects the whole country.

Control measures are being applied.
