Nutreco Gets Nelsons for 11 million

NETHERLAND - Nutreco's fish feed subsidiary Skretting has acquired Nelson and Sons, Inc, for 11 million. The manufacturer of Silver Cup fish feed.

Nelson and Sons, a family owned business with 50 employees, has two production facilities near Salt Lake City, Utah.

It began fish feed production in 1956 and has an established freshwater markets in Western USA, including a significant share in the Idaho Trout business, and activities in Canada and Mexico.

The business has a total annual production of around 30,000 metric tonnes and annual revenues in the region of €17 million. It's a good match for Skretting's profitable fish feed business, which is expanding in line with global aquaculture developments. Nutreco's strategy is to grow its fish nutrition businesses and niche markets are a prime objective.

Knut Nesse, Managing Director Skretting that the Silver Cup brand is well respected in North America. They are regarded as high quality, specialty feeds and thier addition to Skretting's range is a natural extension of Nutreco's move into new aquaculture feed markets.
