Northlink pledge to fish industry

SCOTLAND - Northlink has pledged to give fish processors more advanced warning if its ferries are not going to sail because of bad weather.

Northlink said the cancellations were on safety grounds

The company met with fish buyers and sellers in Lerwick to explain why some sailings between Shetland and Aberdeen were cancelled last week.

Fish processors said it had cost them thousands of pounds in lost income.

Northlink's commercial director, Gareth Crichton, said communication would be improved with freight customers.
