The main change involves the merger of Groundfish Production and Fleet Management into the Groundfish Department and the division of most of the tasks of Fleet Management between the Groundfish Department and the Pelagic Department. Fleet Management, therefore, has been disbanded.
Torfi Þ. Þorsteinsson, previously the head of Groundfish Production, has taken over as head of the Groundfish Department.
Rúnar Þór Stefánsson, formerly the head of Fleet Management, will be leaving the company but will act as a consultant, continuing to implement a number of projects such as the conversion of Helga María into a fresh fish trawler.
Other employees of Fleet Management will be transferred to the Groundfish and Pelagic Departments. Some of the tasks formerly undertaken by Fleet Management will be transferred to the Finance Department, managed by Jónas Guðbjörnsson.
In addition to the above changes, a new department, Business Development, has been created and is under the direct authority of the CEO. The department is responsible for projects outside Iceland, environmental issues and business development. Svavar Svavarsson, previously the Manager of the Marketing Department, is now the Manager of Business Development.
Furthermore, Brynjólfur Eyjólfsson, who has been responsible for research in the Marketing Department, has taken over as Marketing Manager.
At the same time, Garðar Svavarsson, previously sales manager in the Marketing Department, has accepted the position of Manager of the Pelagic Department, which was previously managed by Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson, CEO.
The executive management of the company currently consists of the CEO and the Managers of these five departments which are as stated:
- Groundfish – Torfi Þ. Þorsteinsson
- Finance – Jónas Guðbjörnsson
- Marketing – Brynjólfur Eyjólfsson
- Pelagic – Garðar Svavarsson
- Business Development – Svavar Svavarsson
The changes have already entered into effect.
