The conference on tilapia fish farming will be held at the Gateway Hotel in Vijayawada, reports TheHindu.

“ITS-2014 will provide a platform to aquaculture scientists, farmers, tilapia experts, industry practitioners, stakeholders, processors, field staff and officials of MPEDA and other departments to harvest Genetically Improved Farm Tilapia (GIFT),” said MPEDA Deputy Director (Aquaculture) S. Kandan.

“GIFT, considered as a common man’s fish, is a popular seafood commodity with good demand in the international market. The Ministry of Agriculture recently gave approval for responsible aquaculture of tilapia in India,” Dr Kandan added.

RGCA Coordinator Jaideep Kumar said leading tilapia scientists from across the globe will discuss the latest trends in modern aquaculture production systems and trading of tilapia at the global level.
