This was said at the close of the conference to address the strategic guidelines for the sustainable development of aquaculture.

The Secretary General stressed his agreement with most of the findings highlighted in the report, mainly agreeing that "Member States should promote measures to regain competitiveness of European Aquaculture".

The report pointed out the need to improve and simplify administrative procedures, in terms of time and costs, for obtaining the necessary authorizations and ensuring full traceability of products in import controls and the guarantee of safe, healthy and sustainable seafood.

Mr Dominguez has advocated that the competent authorities prioritize spatial plans that reduce uncertainty and facilitate investment, not only in marine aquaculture, but also in inland aquaculture.

In his speech, Carlos Dominguez valued the importance of aquaculture in the Region of Murcia.
