India, he said, was emerging as a major marine product exporter. After stagnating for the past 10 years, moving from $1.42 billion in 2000-01 to $1.48 billion in 2004-05, the exports had risen to $1.64 billion in 2005-06 and $1.85 billion in 2006-07, Mr Ramesh said.

INDIA - The government today announced steps to boost exports of marine products, setting a target of $2 billion for the year 2007-08. For the first time after 10 years the marine products exports have gone up for two consecutive years, the minister of state for commerce, Mr Jairam Ramesh, said.
