Government Adopts Law on Aquaculture

UKRAINE - The government of Ukraine has adopted a law on aquaculture, taking into account the president's proposals.

The law determines the basics of operation and states the regulation of aquaculture as a separate kind of agriculture in the system of agroindustrial production.

The document also contains proposals in regard to the procedure of relations of the governmental bodies and local self-government bodies with economic agents that operate in aquaculture, internal water bodies, internal sea waters and the territorial sea of Ukraine.

Peoples deputies agreed with proposal of the President not to introduce licensing in the sphere of aquaculture.

They also approved the amendments aimed at regulation of issues connected with preparation, content requirements, status and subject of scientific and biological substantiation.

The respective bill was registered under No. 9571.
