"The new organisation will include strengthening the Ministry's work with industry and market policy and collect the responsibility for working with coastal issues in a department. Development cooperation to facilitate sustainable fisheries in other countries, is also an area that should receive more attention," says Fisheries and Coastal Affairs Minister Lisbeth Berg-Hansen.
The Fisheries and Aquaculture Department is responsible for matters relating to fisheries and aquaculture. The department is responsible for the regulation of the fisheries and aquaculture sector and to ensure economic sustainability in an environmentally sustainable framework.

In connection with the reorganisation, several new positions in the Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs have also been created.
