Each tube will harvest about 10 tons of fish every four months. The test tubes have been running for several months.

The teachers have pulled together their skills to develop a unique system that take advantage of the Tilapia s natural strengths and nocturnal nature. The recirculating system insulates the Tilapia from the rigors of Arizona's weather and predation while minimizing the amount of water necessary for the grow out process.

US - The first underground fish farm is about to open in Casa Grande, Arizona. Four school teachers have gotten together and have patent pending on raising Tilapia underground in huge tubes.
