Croatia Reports New Outbreak of Infectious Haematopoietic Necrosis

CROATIA - There has been a new outbreak of infectious haematopoietic necrosis in farmed rainbow trout.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No.4 dated 29 December to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes a new outbreak of infectious haematopoietic necrosis in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) at Donja Suvaja in the Zadarska region, which borders Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Elevated morbidity and mortality were observed on 17 December in farmed fish in fresh water is a semi-closed system. A total of 16,550 fish were affected. Morbidity and mortality were given a score of 1 on scale from zero to 5.

The epidemiological investigation is ongoing.

The most recent previous outbreak in the country was in April 2014 in another region.
