GLOBAL - Iceland met with Norway and the EU over the weekend to discuss finding an agreement to the north east Atlantic mackerel stock, writes Lucy Towers, TheFishSite editor.

Once again, the meeting ended without an agreement over the quota allocation.

Iceland’s chief negotiator, Sigurgeir Thorgeirsson, said Iceland called the meeting in order to try and reach a consensus regarding mackerel catch levels.

"The meeting generated a constructive, positive discussion that laid the groundwork for negotiations to continue. Iceland looks forward to continuing constructive negotiations,” said Mr Thorgeirsson.
