Companies Receive US$7 Million

CHILE - US$7 million funding has been approved by the the Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO) to one producer and two supplier companies: Novofish, Aquastar and Frasal.

According to Fishfarmingxpert.com, The Salmon Table coordinator and former undersecretary of Fisheries, Felipe Sandoval explained that the benefited projects are related with improvements in salmon harvest systems; mortality handlings at hatcheries and fattening sites; and a salmon productionan increase.

Finally, and regarding to when the Chilean salmon industry is going to recover, he stated that there should be an upturn in the mid-term, although 2010 will be a year of low production due to the extension of the productive cycles, adding that “I think that starting on 2011 we are going to enter into a gradual recovery” he concluded.
