November 2008 Catfish Feed Deliveries Down 34 Percent from Last Year
Foodsize catfish feed delivered totaled 14,404 tons, down 34 percent from the corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 360 tons, down 34 percent from the corresponding month a year ago.
November feed delivered to Alabama catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 5,314 tons, down 20 percent from last year. Alabama accounted for 37 percent of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to U.S. farmers.
The other major States with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in November and their comparison to the previous year were Arkansas with 1,721 tons, down 17 percent; Louisiana with 359 tons, down 74 percent; and Mississippi with 4,566 tons, down 48 percent from last year.
