ARRA Funds Available to Colorados Aquaculture

Economics Politics +2 more

COLORADO, US The Colorado Department of Agriculture invites licensed aquaculture facilities in Colorado to apply for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds.

Section 102(d) of the ARRA provides $50 million to create the Aquaculture Grant Program to assist aquaculture producers for losses due to high feed costs during the 2008 calendar year.

“CDA recently sent correspondence directly to our licensees, and we want to make sure they know to look for these important documents,” said CDA’s State Aquaculture Coordinator, Scott Leach. “These funds come at a time when the cost of doing business continues to increase; our hope is that our licensees will now have assistance in meeting their financial obligations.”

CDA will be dispersing up to $46,421 in ARRA funds to a possible 48 licensed aquaculture facilities; a prescribed formula will be used to decide how much each eligible producer receives.
