Aquaculture Output Touched 49,435 MT in 2016 in Hai Phong Province

VIETNAM - Total area for aquaculture in Hai Phong province, Vietnam, hit 11,748.1 hectares in 2016, down 2.5 per cent compared with the previous year.

Of that, the area for saltwater farming touched 382.2 hectares, up 13.5 per cent; that for brackish water farming reached 5,162.3 hectares, down 11 per cent year on year, reports VASEP.

The reason was that some areas for aquaculture were shifted for construction in ecological zones and industrial parks.

The aquaculture output of the locality in 2016 totaled 49,435.6 MT, up 5.3 per cent on par with the previous year. The capture volume of the province in 2016 amounted to 74,463.7 MT, up 8.2 per cent year on year.
