The dialogues, which are the protocols for the certification process have been developed by a team of experts within the aquaculture industry and have been led by the World Wildlife Fund.
In handing over the dialogues to Bas Geerts, the standards director for the Aquaculture Stewardship Council, Jose Villalon from the WWF said that more than 2,200 people had taken part in the aquaculture dialogue process.
The dialogues cover Tilapia, Pangasius, Bivalves and Abalone and will form the basis for third party certification of fish farmers and processors.
The first certification is expected in August this year with further certification in the other species by the end of the year.
The dialogue process is now being extended to other species to include salmon, shrimp and fresh water trout.
