The information was provided at the opening act of cooperation agreement in various domains between the Ministry of Fisheries (MINPESCAS) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), reports AngolaPress.

The official stressed that fishing in Angola is an important economic activity and despite being producers of fish also provides great job opportunities.

Agreements in fishing research were signed, what he considered as basis for a good management of artisanal fisheries with stress on reducing loss of fishes after capture.

On the other hand, the representative of FAO in Angola, Dialó Mamado, said that the signing of the agreements is a result of cooperation between both entities for the development of programmes which aim at increasing the catch of fish, production of salt and processing of fishing products.
