The KOICA will fund the $5 million project, which aims at guaranteeing the sustainable development of industries relating to aquaculture.

The agreement will also see the transfer of the Korean experience to the Algerian operators and the implementation of a marketing plan for the sector’s products, the AlgeriaTimes reports.

The Ministry’s Secretary General Mustapha Lagha welcomed the positive results of the previous joint projects between the two countries particularly the assessment campaign of fishing wealth in Algeria through the research vessel under the ministry.

Lagha underlined, in a statement to APS, the two shrimp farming projects in sea water in El Marsa (Oran) and shrimp farming project in fresh water in Hassi Ben Abdallah (Ouargla).

For his part, KOICA’s representative Chon Gyoung Shik said that the project will allow to the Algerian executives of the ministry, fishermen and private investors to take advantage of the Korean experience in aquaculture.
