Victoria Hosts Sustainable Development Conference 2008

AUSTRALIA - The current and future directions and frameworks for sustainability will be the focus of Victoria's Sustainable Development Conference 2008.

To be held on 22-23 April 2008 at Zinc, Federation Square in Melbourne, a number of key Government ministers, industry leaders, local government, scientists, conservationists and others involved in improving sustainability have agreed to take part. They will to discuss and review how it will affect the region's local government, business and the community.

The event provides an opportunity to examine progress towards sustainable objectives in a range of key areas, says its organisers.

Topics under review will include:
  • Energy efficiency
  • Climate change response
  • Waste and resource recovery
  • Planning and urban design
  • Water
The Conference will also feature best practice case studies in sustainable development, including creating a sustainable workplace, addressing challenges of sustainability, and provide advice for how state and local government and business can achieve their sustainable development goals in a cost-effective manner.
