According to a report from TheHerald, Britons spent £10m on 425 tonnes of fresh scallops as their sales increased by 16 per cent over the last 12 months.
The figures were released by Seafish, the organisation backed by the four UK Government fisheries departments that promotes good quality, sustainable seafood.
Scallops represent much better value than their reputation suggests as they can now be bought fresh or frozen, reports TheHerald.
