An operational and commercial model has been agreed allowing HM Coastguard to call on the BP-chartered vessel, Grampian Frontier, to provide support in the event of a pollution incident.

Bertie Armstrong, chief executive of the SFF said: We welcome this move to release an emergency response vessel to respond quickly to pollution incidents. Our fishing industry depends upon clean seas and healthy marine ecosystems, and it is vital that there is adequate provision for short-notice towing capability in the event of any incident around our coasts.
