VIET NAM - With its innovative entry Seafood Harmony, Vietnams seafood company Vinh Hoan snatched the special prize of the Seafood Prix d'Elite new products competition at the 2009 European Seafood Exposition in Belgium.

Beating out 37 other rivals from countries such as Spain, France, Denmark, the UK and Turkey at the world’s largest and most prestigious seafood event in Brussels, from April 28-30, Vinh Hoan Corporation’s product secured the award for the health and nutrition category.

Vinh Hoan located in Ho Chi Minh City is the first Asian business to have won this major award.

The winning product is ocean-caught barramundi combined with jumbo black tiger shrimps, sea scallops and topped with sun-dried tomatoes, capers and roasted garlic butter sauce. The seafood is then hand-wrapped in a traditional en papillote wrapper, which is designed to steam the seafood in its own moisture with very little added fat. As many as 1,600 firms from 75 countries took part in this year’s event, which attracted about 20,000 visitors.
