Salmon's future is organic

UK - Rearing salmon the organic way continues to be a growth industry with news that Green Isle Organics has already pre-sold three quarters of next year's harvest to an upmarket UK retailer chain.

Shetland-based Green Isle was formed earlier this year by brothers Ivor and Angus Johnson, the founders of Johnson Seafarms, which is now the UK's largest organic cod farmer.

The company farms salmon in cages moored at Lambgarth Head and at Dales Voe, near Lerwick. They are currently working with the Soil Association to get the salmon farm certified as organic.
