Cooke Aquaculture has announced the purchase of the feed plant, which employs about 50 people.
Director of communications Nell Halse said the purchase was a strategic move by the company as it has been buying from the feed plant for some time.
Halse said they hope to make the transition as smooth as possible. “It should be business as usual.”
She added the purchase will mean stability and growth for the feed plant. “We intend to expand our customer base.”
Cooke Aquaculture is a Maritime company that deals mostly with salmon farming, processing and selling more than 80 million pounds of Atlantic salmon every year.
They have been in business for more than 20 years and have operations in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and the state of Maine.
