The programme's purpose is to strengthen the infrastructure in aquaculture production units in high poverty areas and provide scientific and technical advice to farmers, to increase production, to be more competitive and maintain their power and employment.
National Fisheries Institute hopes to boost the generation of knowledge about the genetic aspect of 15 crop species and promote better management and sustainable aquaculture production.
Under this programme, with the participation of the National Coordinator Produce Foundations (COFUPRO) and the National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CONAPESCA), aquaculture specialists will perform an assessment and validation process of growing commercial species such as snapper, sea bass, shrimp, oysters, tilapia and trout, among other high demand in the domestic market.
