Robin will be responsible for coordinating the significant investment Benchmark has made in research and development to develop aquaculture health solutions that serve the evolving needs of the market.
Robin joins Benchmark from Merck Animal Health - where he was Global Strategic Marketing Director focussed on aquaculture and brings to the Group 30 years’ experience in aquaculture, of which 26 years were spent developing and pioneering some of the major heath solutions now used routinely to prevent and control disease in farmed fish.
He was involved in the introduction of the first vaccines in Europe, the first oral vaccines, the first integrated health solutions that used prime and booster vaccination technologies, and specific technical service programs to prevent disease in fish.
Robin commented: “This is a very exciting opportunity. I am thrilled to be joining such a dynamic and expert team who are backed by a focussed investment plan, designed to revolutionise the way aquaculture health is delivered to the sector.
“Disease is often cited as the major limiting factor in achieving the full potential of the “blue revolution”, so joining a company that is open to solving those issues through a broad range of innovative technologies is very inspiring. I am looking forward to the challenge and am confident that Benchmark will make a significant and meaningful impact on the sustainability and performance of aquaculture worldwide.”
Speaking from Edinburgh, Technical Development Director, John Marshall, said: “Robin is a first-class addition to the team. He is extremely well known and respected throughout the industry and signals a significant step forward for us in terms of our capabilities and knowhow.
“I look forward to working with Robin to put in place the commercial structure and sales focus to help Benchmark Animal Health continue to deliver high quality, world-recognised health products and services that exceed our customers’ expectations”.
