"Transition from the maximum credits guaranteed to vessel quotas will provide greater predictability and help fishing efforts which can be stretched out in time," said Minister of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs Lisbeth Berg-Hansen.
The upcoming regulatory year will run from 1 August 2012 to 31 July 2013.
Allocated vessel quotas are now guaranteed, and it will be possible to hunt king crab all year round.
It is opened for vessels up to 15 meters. The regulations will be laid down after consultation with the Sami Parliament.
Guaranteed quotas for individual vessels will be reduced by just under 10 per cent compared with 2011/2012, which is related with reduced total allowable catch.
