A total of 122 participants provided feedback during the consultation process, either through online submissions, or in sessions involving representatives from industry, academia, non-governmental organisations, Aboriginal organisations, and municipalities.

“On behalf of the Provincial Government, I want to thank everyone who took the time to provide valuable feedback that will inform future initiatives to support a successful and sustainable aquaculture industry. The industry has grown to become a major employer in rural areas and a key driver of the provincial economy. Feedback from this process will help continue that success by identifying areas of improvement and supporting the pursuit of best practices,” said Keith Hutchings, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

All feedback received through the consultation process will be used to update the Provincial Government’s aquaculture strategic plan, which will guide future policy and investment decisions aimed at fostering the success of the industry. The updated plan, Vision 2018, will be finalised this year.
