US - The lifting today by the Department of State Health Services of a 12-year-old ban on possession of fish from Lake Como in Fort Worth, after tests showed fish from the lake are now safe to eat. It suggests progress is being made on cleaning up our lakes

The ban was issued in 1995 after tests showing unsafe levels of several chemicals believed to cause cancer and damage the nervous system, liver and other organs.

Bans prohibiting possession of fish from two other Fort Worth lakes, Fosdic and Echo, remain in effect
