Nofima Elects New Chairperson

Post-harvest

NORWAY - Former NHO Director Finn Bergesen jr. has been elected as the new chairperson of the Board of Directors of Nofima AS.

Mr Bergesen currently runs his own consultancy firm and holds positions on several other boards.

Nofima is Europe’s largest institute for applied research within the fields of aquaculture, fisheries and food research. The company was created through the merger of four Norwegian institutes.

Mr Bergesen is familiar with Nofima as a result of the merger process, in which he had a central role in the report, as well as from his long career at NHO (the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise) and in the fisheries industry.

“In many ways, Nofima’s task is very simple: we shall contribute to transforming the country’s fantastic natural resources into values for those who harvest them. In my opinion, Norway has the world’s best raw materials and, as such, a great starting point for food production. But so that we can take advantage of this to an even greater extent, we require good industry oriented research and innovation and this is where Nofima has a key role,” said Mr Bergesen.

He succeeds barrister Endre Skjørestad who has held the position since 2006.
