UK - The Scottish Shellfish Marketing Group has appointed Rob Mitchell as Commercial Director, with the direct remit of spearheading business expansion, including export.

Mr Mitchell has extensive experience of the food industry having previously worked in sales for Grampian Foods and Bernard Matthews, and latterly as National Account Manager for Anglo Beef processors. More recently he was Group Commercial Manager for Macrae Foods based at Fraserburgh, which then became the Seafood Company following a reorganisation by parent company, Youngs Seafoods.

He said: "This is an exciting time to be joining Scottish Shellfish, which is the market leader in supplying mussels and oysters to the multiple retail and foodservice sectors.

"I believe there is huge potential in developing the mussel and oyster sector through innovation and by targeting new markets. Demand for both fresh and value-added shellfish is growing all the time, fuelled by the health benefits and the culinary versatility of this type of seafood."

Stephen Cameron, Scottish Shellfish Managing Director, said: "Rob has tremendous experience of the seafood industry and has an excellent track record in developing key customer accounts. I am confident that he will make a major contribution to the development of the business."
