In his new role, Bujji helps monitor the performance of certification bodies that implement the BAP standards and assists in auditor and industry training and outreach. He also supports the implementation of standards and their regular review.
“Murali Krishna Bujji has extensive knowledge of all the BAP standards, as well as experience in multiple global certification schemes and audits involving industry and organizations,” said BAP Vice President Lisa Goché. “His wide-ranging abilities will also help BAP in ongoing policy and business development around the world.”
With more than 18 years as an aquaculture professional, Bujji has varied experience in farm management and technical services for farms and feed operations. He also has eight years of international experience in auditing, including seven years working with aquaculture farms, processing plants, feed mills and shrimp hatcheries under BAP. Bujji has also provided hundreds of hours of training in HACCP and food safety.
Bujji holds a bachelor of fisheries science degree in aquaculture and oceanography from the College of Fisheries, Mangalore at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
“I am excited to be a more direct part of BAP,” Bujji said. “BAP is the best thing that has happened to the aquaculture industry. Apart from being technically superior, the BAP standards have been practical for stakeholders to implement and achieve third-party certification. They also encompass the entire seafood chain, which is very unique to BAP.”
