Taking place in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, the first session was provided to officials responsible for overseeing compliance fallowing and covered essential technical points that should be evaluated for issuing certificates.
The second session covered regulatory information for officers to properly enforce the fallowing of shrimp farms in northwestern Mexico.
Fallowing is to depopulate and dry aquaculture facilities for at least three months in order to expose the ponds to sunlight. This measure reduces the risk of spreading diseases.
Meetings also discussed the certification of aquaculture facilities such as laboratories producing larvae, breeding and fattening farms.
