Kyrgyzstan Fish Production Report 2006

KYRGYZSTAN - Provisional figures from Kyrgyzstans Agriculture and Water Resources Ministry show that Kyrgyzstan produced 61.2 tonnes of fish in 2006, according to the Interfax news agency.

Pond fish accounted for 34.2 tonnes of the total figure, followed by 18.9 tonnes of fish produced in reservoirs and 8.1 tonnes of lake fish.

A total of 19.6 million young lake herring, and 623,000 young trout, were released into lakes in 2006. A total of 3.05 million young carp and 830,000 young “herbivorous fish” were released into reservoirs.
