PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA - National investment arm Khazanah Nasional Bhd has turned its sights on aquaculture and has big plans for shrimp farming, aiming to be the largest shrimp producer in Malaysia by the end of next year.

According to TheStarOnline, it has already started, via unit Blue Archipelago Bhd, by turning around an underperforming farm in Kerpan, previously owned by the Bin Laden family of Saudi Arabia.

“Over the past 11 months, we have been able to gain management control of a farm in north Kedah, known as Kerpan,” Blue Archipelago chief executive officer Dr Shahridan Faiez told StarBiz.

The Kerpan shrimp farm, spanning 400ha, is the third largest in the country, wrote the autor, Eileen Hee.
