Japan to analyze Vietnamese Farmed eels for chemical residue

JAPAN - Japan will examine three categories of food products imported from Vietnam following instances of chemical contamination, the Commercial Affairs Department of the Vietnamese embassy in Japan said.

Only samples were examined until now but after the contamination was discovered, the department said, the Japanese government had decided to check all the consignments until March 31, 2007.

The three groups of products were farmed eel, including processed products; rice; and rice products.
