During day two of the conference Nigel Balmforth, Head of Publishing at 5m Publishing, will chair the session entitled ‘The Importance of Education and Training in Aquaculture’.
Mr Balmforth has worked in aquaculture, fish biology and fisheries publishing for many years with Chapman and Hall and Wiley Blackwell, prior to joining 5m in 2015.
The session begins with Dr Neil Hazon from the University of St Andrews discussing ‘Distance Learning in Aquaculture and its Importance to the Industry’.
Dr Hazon will describe the advantages of learning part-time and distance learning from the perspective of both employees and employers. Dr Hazon will also discuss the importance of providing flexible, accessible training in the rapidly developing aquaculture industry at both national and global levels.
Following this, ‘The Role of Accreditation and Certification in Aquaculture Training’ will be addressed by David Babington on behalf of ESVPS.
The session will conclude with Nigel Balmforth talking about ‘The Importance of Publishing in Aquaculture’.
