Good First Quarter Results For Invertec

Post-harvest

CHILE - Invertec has reported a profit of $2.3 million for the first quarter of 2010, compared to a loss of $13.3 million in the same period in 2009.

This period has undoubtedly marked a 'turning point' for the company.

Atlantic salmon harvest reached 570.38 tonnes in March 2010, below the 5598.90 tonnes in 2009. Coho salmon production for first quarter 2010 was also below the 2834.55 tonnes produced in first quarter 2009.

Invertec put the decline in production down to an early harvest, a consequence of the ISA outbreak.

Despite this the company reported a rise in sale prices for salmon and trout.
