Fishermen Insured Against Disasters

GHANA - Fishermen in Ghana are to be insured against disasters as the government takes into account the importance of the sector and the high cost of fishing equipment which is often destroyed.

All fishermen in the country are to be insurred by the government on the “Fishermen Life Insurance Scheme" (FLIS), reports GhanaNewsAgency.

The government is also making the necessary efforts to regulate the cost of fishing gears in the country to make them affordable.
