According to The Norway Post, this follows a fresh report from Russian fisheries inspectors, in which they again criticise conditions at several Norwegian processing plants. These reports form the basis for the authorities decisions on which firms will be allowed to export fish to the Russian market.
Roald Vaage of the Norwegian Food Safety Inspectorate said that in part he had to agree with the Russian criticism.
He said that some of the remarks criticise conditions which are a breach of not only Russian regulations, but also Norwegian, but added that not all are serious.
Fisheries Minister Pedersen says that her general impression is that the industry is taking the demands for hygiene seriously.
