Fish Farm Production Survey 2009

SCOTLAND, UK - The latest statistics on fish farming in Scotland were published this week, detailing information on salmon, trout and cod.

The key findings are:

  • Production tonnage of Atlantic salmon increased by 12 per cent in 2009 to 144,247 tonnes. This increase comes after four years of relatively steady production levels.

  • Production tonnage of Rainbow Trout decrease by 11.8 per cent in 2009 to 6,766 tonnes. This is against the recent trend of a small increase over the past four years.

  • Cod production decreased from 1,822 tonnes in 2008 to 0.1 tonnes in 2009.
