Experts Establish Pangasius Standards

Politics

VIETNAM - Fish farmers, businesses and local and international experts, met Wednesday in Ho Chi Minh City to review preparations to establish international standards for pangasius farming and trade.

According to ThanhnienNews, draft standard set has been up for public review and criticism for the past two years, and the final standards are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

“We are getting a lot of input that will help make the final standards the most credible and effective standards on the market for pangasius farming,” said Flavio Corsin, senior aquaculture advisor of World Widelife Fund - Vietnam, who coordinates the two-day dialogue.

“The need for this is critical, as the demand for pangasius around the world is growing very quickly.”

Vietnam is the world’s biggest pangasius farmer and exporter.
