EU Says Yes to More Viet Exporters

VIET NAM - The European Commission (EC) has granted 25 more Vietnamese seafood companies export agreements that will allow their products into the European market.

The Vietnamese Companies will be able to start exporting on 31 January 2008. The move heralds significant improvements in quality measures and production standards in Viet Nam. Previously, problems with food hygiene and antibiotic residues hampered EU exports - a market which is regarded as lucrative with expansion opportunities.

The total number of Vietnamese seafood companies now eligible to export to the EU is 269. Some of the newly recognized exporters include two canned food processors and 23 frozen producers.
